HER || SHE || WOMAN

I met a woman in the hills last year, Kind and gorgeous. She ran a small cafe and worked as a porn artist. Poured her heart out, over a cup of coffee on a winter morning. She chose to pose nude, not because how things stand, but because she enjoys that. It’s just a career choice, not her Dignity.

I saw a woman on the highway the other day, chit chatting with the truck drivers and exhaling smoke as she sipped her tea. The guys on the left giving her dirty smiles and the elders on the right looking down at her disrespectfully. It’s just a cigarette, not her identity.

There is a goth girl next door, who hangs out with a bunch of guys, gets drunk sometimes and stays out till 3. Not just the neighbors, her own family looked at her as an ignominy. It’s just an hour of the clock, not her personality.

That shy girl from my school, who fell in love with a guy from a different continent. She now shares a house with him. A human loving another human, regardless of society’s acceptability.

There is a woman I know, who was always forced to cover her body and even the face when she stepped out of her room. Years later saw her picture on a social media in sheer sari on a red bikini. She captioned ‘Hey!! It’s just a piece of cloth to cover, not a necessity’.

That woman who is always treated as untouchable every time she stepped in a Temple, Mosque or a church. She cried out one day, ‘what’s caste and creed?’ The society divided Gods in the name of religion, she dared to disagree.

There is a kick ass woman I know from work, smooth with excels and people. Loves sleeping in the jungles and waking up on mountain peaks. Often shows her indifference towards cooking and house cleaning activities. Not a good wife, they assigned the guilt when she asked her man to share the responsibilities.

A woman in my family, declared her wish for child-bearing. Her mother joyously inquired, ‘so you are ready for matrimony?’ She tried explaining, ‘A woman can choose motherhood, bridal vows are not obligatory’.

That woman who hides away from everybody like a crook. Raped in her teens, is now rejected by every male of our community. Her parents tired of defending, Somebody else’s monstrous act does not define her purity.

We live in a century where women travels to moon and other planets and here we are still judging her on the basis of the career she chooses for herself, the time she comes back home, the gender of her best friend, the number of guys she has dated, the age when she wants to marry, the inches of skin she chooses to reveal, her cooking and house cleaning skills, her decision of marriage and kids. Almost EVERYTHING.

Guide her if she is about to fall, and even if she does, sit down with her, laugh it off and help her get up. Don’t force her to follow the rules and the classification of right and wrong set by the society. You can’t always protect her, it’s not possible. Don’t expect grace and elegance out of women all the time. It’s UNFAIR. Tell them it’s okay to be goofy and messy and clumsy and that it’s okay to fall down trying to walk in those sky-high heels.

Give her the freedom to make her own choices, let her gather the courage to accept the mistakes and failures and the sagacity to learn the lessons life has to offer.

No this isn’t about feminism, this isn’t about being treated as equals, it is about accepting and loving HER, SHE, THE WOMAN OF THE SOCIETY. Whether she is slim or Fat, tall or short, has long hair or is completely bald, loves a male or a female, Sot or sober, fair or dark, coy or cocky, a housewife or ruthlessly ambitious. No matter who she is and how she chooses to lead her life, she is BEAUTIFUL and COMPLETE and she deserves to be treated with respect as much as she is expected to give respect.

She is ME,
She is YOU,
She is a Woman,
But first, a HUMAN.

November is about to end and there is no trace of winter at all, at least not here in Gujarat. Are you all waiting for winters as eagerly as we are?! (Cold weather, please come soon).

Coming back to the post, we thought of doing some light layering with the ethnic wear this time. So this post features a little experiment that we did with one of our plain Maxi.

This outfit is very easy to carry to a small family gathering or a casual dinner or even to work. The combination of a western Maxi and an indian style kurti looks very Chic and stylish and the best part is that you can wear all types of Kurtis, whether it is an Anarkali, long pakistani style kurti or an A Line kurti. You can pick any style of Maxi, BodyCon or umbrella cut or can add a little more fun in the outfit by picking a three fourth length maxi. That’s not it! If you want a last-minute outfit fix and you do not own a Maxi, you can easily replace it with a Skirt (straight or umbrella cut).

For those of you who dare to try a punk look, pick a high slit striped maxi skirt and pair it with a long kurta. Add a chunky necklace, jhumkas and for the footwear go with something like gladiators or boots.

We are coming up with some really interesting stuff in the coming weeks. Till then enjoy this post and do share your feedback. Also, if you want to see any specific posts, please let us know in the comments section below.

Beach Please!!

We stood there, captivated and mesmerized by the gorgeous sea. The waves crawling to the shore drenching the sand, and its sound beyond peaceful. The sun was going down in the water and the sky was all shades of orange 😍

We reached Kashid by 6 in the evening, a beach town on the shores of Arabian sea in Konkan region of Maharashtra. You can choose to take a boat from India Gate which will drop you at Alibaug and then can take a bus from Alibaug to Kashid. That’s a convenient and time-saving option but it remains closed during monsoon. According to google maps Kashid is only 135 Kilometers from Mumbai, but the local bus took more than 7 hours to reach there. The roads were pathetic and we were really frustrated and tired by the time we reached there, but the moment we stepped down from the bus, we could smell it in the air. You know the kind of magic you feel when you are around a river or sea? The back aching long journey started making sense. There are a lot of home stay options in Kashid. We checked out a few and walked almost a KM before finally settling for a cozy one. The one that we chose had a small lane across the street, a 200 Meter walk and we were at the beach. It literally felt like we had a private beach because there was no one around even though it was a long weekend.

Took a walk and watched the sun getting lost in the endless sea, one of the best view you can witness in your life I tell you!! It was getting dark and we were super tired, so we decided to take dinner and call it a day. Whether you are a traveler, tourist or someone who is bored with the hectic life and needs a break, Kashid is the place for you. ISOLATED, PEACEFUL AND BEAUTIFUL. Comfortable home stays, yummy food (specially fish items), relaxing at the beach, sun bathing, diving in the sea, what more can you ask for.

Woke up with the sun the next day, the sea looked so serene. Water, as far as you can see, the depth that can never be measured, the crystal clear bluish shade of sea, the wind blowing our hair, the waves crashing at our feet, the peace in the air, all of it was so majestic and mysterious, it kinda hypnotized us. I bet you cant help but fall in love with the beauty of a sea. Oh! How can i ever find words to describe the incredibility of nature. Another place that will leave you completely spellbound is Janjira Fort. The fort was originally built in the 15th century by local Maratha fishermen but was captured by the Siddis who built a much bigger and impregnable 22 acre stone fort which we see today. You can take a boat from Kashid and can reach there in around 45 minutes. We were so excited to visit the fort, can you imagine there is a fort inside the sea???? and even after centuries, it is standing still. How fascinating is that!! Unfortunately, there were high tides on the day we were there and hence no boats were sailing to the fort. Here are a few picture I found on google (No Copyrights Intended)

Coming to the clothes we wore, we played around a little with our scarfs. Lets admit it, not all of us have the curves and confidence to carry a bikini and hence this look emerged. Put on your fav pair of shorts and wrap around a scarf over your bikini. Sexy enough for a beach yet not too revealing or uncomfortable. Try it on, we are sure you would enjoy wearing it as much as we did. For the other day we picked a Floral cute dress for Manisha and I wore shorts, crop top and threw a cape over it.

Move your ass away from the crowded and noisy cities and take a dip in the sea before the weather gets too cold. Kashid is a perfect getaway from Mumbai and Pune.
